With Padre Albini, let's be missionaries today

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May 2019 at the Vico Convent
Pilgrimage to the tomb of Father ALBINI

the 180th anniversary of his death

In September 2016, Marie-Thérèse Ottavioli came to Aix to give a lecture on the life and missionary work of the venerable Father Charles Dominique Albini. She introduced me to the so-called Apostle of Corsica and allowed me to realize that Father Albini had made his novitiate and spent his first years of Oblate life in our house in Aix. During this conference, I felt the desire to discover Corsica, the country of his mission

To realize this desire and make this pilgrimage to Vico, I had to wait 3 years. I am happy to have finally come here, to have been able to pray and celebrate Mass in the room where he died, now a chapel named after him. I arrived there with some personal prayer intentions and the intentions that were given to me when I told my friends that I was going to Corsica for Father Albini's feast.

Saturday night, we opened the celebrations with a procession to the cave. The children of catechesis, members of the Brotherhood of Father Albini and many faithful participated in this procession. The songs and prayers in Corsica went straight to heaven, for God never refuses a sincere prayer.

Sunday morning, we celebrated mass and despite the rain the church filled up to the last seat. After Mass, more than 100 people participated in the meal. It was a remarkable time of conviviality. The folk songs in Corsica and the anecdotes told by each other have created an atmosphere of fraternity. The celebration ended with a talk about the first companions of St. Eugene de Mazenod and the salvation of the Blessed Sacrament.

Corsica, the Island of Beauty, is a wonderful country also thanks to its inhabitants. I return to Aix happy with my stay in the country of Father Albini's mission.

May he intercede for us Oblates, and for those who share our missionary charism.
